Yellowing paint

OH repainted the conservatory at the back end of last summer. I keep lots of plants on the sills and have found that the paintwork below the plant pots has yellowed.

We have managed to clean all but on very large spot where a massive plant pot has stood. (Not moved too much because of its size).

How can we restore this spot without re-painting the sill?

To prevent this happening again a plan has been made to move the pots round regularly - we live and learn!

You could try making a paste of bicarbonate of soda and leave it on for 2 hours then rinse of or try biotex again make a paste and leave on (you can get biotex in a spray from 99p stores) Apart from that i can't think of anything else.

There probably isn't a way of restoring it although you could try bleach. Oil based gloss paints will yellow if sunlight is excluded. You could try repainting in a waterbased paint but I personally don't like the finish!

I never knew that - it does explain why our downstairs cloakroom (with no natural light) has discoloured very quickly!

Yes sunlight keeps it white, anything covered goes yellow.
Move the pot regular and ensure sun gets to the spots,
I found this when i had my DH`s wedding suit hanging up behind my bedroom door when we took the suit cover down you could see it lol!
