Complete Cemtral Heating System - Questions

Hi all,
At present we have no central heating system at all in our home - gasp, shock, horror!
Anyway we're looking to have this installed fairly soon but just wondering if there are any grants available for a complete new system?. . . I've heard of the governments scrapage grant on old boilers for new and so just wondering about a complete system.
Also, would anyone recommed British Gas or npower to install a new system? I know they're gonna me more expensive than a local tradesman - but I want the job done quickly, neatly & properly and unfortunately I don't know of any recommended local tradesmen!

The utility companies are normally a lot more expensive than a local trademen and from the reports on here that still doens't give you any kind of guarantee of quality.
I would get in some local trademen and get some quotes.
Cant help on the grants.0 -
Go to the Warm Front website to see if you can qualify for any grants

I live in Scotland and there is no help at all for someone in my circumstances (single parent/low income).
The helpline I called said if I lived in England I would have got a grant (warm deal).
For others, apparently you can get an interest free loan. Again only in England.0 -
Thanks all.
Will definitely get quotes from local tradesmen also - just would prefer if I could've got one recomended.
Both myself and my partner work full time and have 2 children so I'm unable to claim any of the listed benefits on the warmfront website - which is annoying. . .just cos we both work doesn't mean to say we have loads of spare cash lying around - quite the oposite really! but thanks anyway. x0
