Mortgage approvals drop sharply

only 802 mortgages less in the whole of the UK in January...I personally would have thought Jan would have been a hell of a lot lower considering.
But the forecast was for 49K, so 802 mortgages below forecast in neither here or there really graham.
and that huge number of 802 requires a headline of Mortgage Approvals drop Sharply :T0 -
Swings and roundabouts.
Despite the fall in sterling, many economists put at least as much weight on the upbeat consumer and mortgage lending figures as the decline in mortgage approvals.
"It's sort of six of one and half a dozen of the other. The increase in overall credit and mortgage lending is encouraging to some extent," said Marc Ostwald, fixed income strategist at Monument Securities

Where's the 800 figure come from? The BBC says a 17% fall since last month.0

The 802 is under forecast, not the drop. So the drops was virtually as predicted by the market.
Well I couldn't see any forecast figures in the report. I guess it was either in one of the other links or my glases need changing.
Re the forecast - can I take it that the market was predicting a slowdown this Feb or that the market always expects a slowdown in Feb?0 -
gripe?? where, who, when?Graham_Devon wrote: »What?
