Options
Hi All

I have been accepted onto a Nursing Diploma course to start in March next year - yay! Does anyone know when I can apply for the NHS Bursary?

Im going back as a mature student and have a daughter who will be 2.5 by the time I go back so just want to get everything in order as soon as possible really.

Thanks in advance

  • Talk with the University you have been accepted to. Have you officially accepted the place? If the information has not already been sent to you contact them for confirmation/clarification of when this is likely to occur - they are sure to know.

I just started in January, and you only apply about 3 months before hands because obviously they will currently be trying to sort out everyone that is enroling this coming september.

The NHS Grants will contact you when the university has sent your details off to them!

Don't panic, you've got loads of time :D

You'll get a letter from the bursary people a couple of months before you start, so should be around Janurary time
The letter will have a student number (might be called something else?? I can't remember!) on it which you need
You can't send your froms off without it

Anyway the forms have to be downloaded on their website

I think from start to finish it took about 5ish weeks or so for me to hear back from them.
As my start date was getting closer I practically stalked them everyday until they were able to tell me how much I'd be awarded

Good luck with your course

    Great stuff thankyou!!

Just another quick one, Im due to move house before I start the course, if I inform UCAS of my new address I presume the bursary people get addresses etc from there?

    Thanks again

    Hi Femme

I'm not entirely sure but would advise you contact with your new details anyway.

I got married just before I started uni in September, after I had received my award notification. They requested a copy of the marriage certificate; the fact that the Uni had the details was not enough.

Better to err on the side of caution - but give them a ring if you are still unsure
