I have used tom's field on a couple of occasions.
The facilities consist of toilets, showers and there is a nice old pub within walking distance.

The cost per night is as follows:
PITCH (10m): £5
EXTRA TENT/GAZEBO: £2.50
ADULTS: £5
CHILD (4-13yrs): £2.50
If you want a brilliant shower you can go to nearby sandy balls and steal theirs.0 -
Try Hollands Wood, Brockenhurst. Lovely site, loads of space and you can walk to a pub(!) Costs £14-15 total for a pitch and 4 people per night in peak season. That's pretty cheap for the New Forest - you might find somewhere a bit cheaper, but then it probably won't have loos or showers.0

I've been to Holland's Wood too, I recommend it :T
There's washing machines and dryers as well.
Watch the ponies, last time we went one pinched food of my plate - which was on my lap :rotfl:Bulletproof0 -
We go to Denny Wood campsite in Lyndhurst,it's one of the forestry comission sites,be warned there are no toilets or showers, but it is lovely, the ponies roam around the campers and it's VERY informal.Pitch prices are about a fiver a night all year.Debt at highest £102k

I am finding this thread interesting as I had a great weekend recently in the Lake District camping with my son who bought his tent off the internet with no research whatsoever. The tent looked very much like the others on the site but I too would llike to buy one for myself.
Would any of you happy campers offer me some advice as to what to look for in a tent and which type would be the easiest to put up etc., I was thinking in lines of a 4 berth. Maybe some recommendations as to where to buy from.
Thank you.SallyD0 -
