Car write off settlement change of mind

My van was damaged by someone overnight a couple of months back while I wasnt in it...eventually I found out who and made a claim directly to his insurance company...aftr an assessment of the repair costs they made an offer re write off..one to keep the van and other to surrender it...as I need it for work and wasnt sure how long it wud tak to get a new one I retained it...however I have found anthr..and want to know if I can now chnage my mind and accept the higher amount in return for the van being taken off me
I only accepted the offer verbally last wednesday so havent received a letter from them or cheque.

Your verbal agreement is legally binding, it did not need to be in writing.
But people do change there minds and Insurers are use to this. So give them a call and see what they say.The comments I post are personal opinion. Just to mention outcome....rang insurance company and they were happy to accept my change of mind...the only problem I came across was the resultant call from the salvage company wanting to collect my vehicle tomorrow! I haven't had any money and my new vehicle isent ready to end of week...so they arent having it yet!0
