Any greenwoods/provident customers here?

Options
Hi guys

Yes I know these loans are expensive and there are cheaper alternatives but my mother has made a conscious decision to apply for one with greenwoods (provident group)

She is interested to know the full process next. She knows someone will call and arrange a visit but mostly she wants to know is the credit check done at application stage and the exact paperwork the agent will want when they come (for example the proof of income do they demand statements or are payslips ok?)

Anybody who has had one recentlly it would be appreciated for the info.

Thanks

  • Not sure how the process works, however judging by the bad press they have regarding amount charged on top l would suggest avoidance is the the best option. Perhaps pawning so jewels may be a cheaper option....just a thought

My brother got a £500 cash doorstep loan through provident, The process was fairly simple, The agent visited, Filled in some paper work, Varified the information is correct about the application, Asked for some Identification (He used a Provisional Driving License), Signed the agreement, And she handed over the £500 in £20 notes, Then a few days later came round and gave him a log book to log his payments, And the adress for him to take the money round to each week.

The agent dident ask for payslips or proof of income, Just some form of identification, Although i spose this differs from agent to agent.

    Hope this helps.

    Mike.

I'd guess that the person works all day, and maybe the agent has little ones, so it's more convenient for him to go and give her the money rather than her collect. Another one is she may live near to his work so it's less hassle for both.

May I suggest she tries her local Credit Union before going down this route.

  • STAY AWAY from both of them .

I currently have a loan with greenwoods . I needed that cash at the time for a repair on my vehicle, The apr is so so high, the payments are over a year it is so not worth . my collector doesnt turn up for weeks on end and then they send me default letters because i havent paid!!

plus if you are a first time customer they only issue £50 for the first time, surely she could try and get £ 50 together without going down this road.

my wife took out a loan with provi and got £500 as a first loan, so i think you have the wrong information about the amounts they lend to first time customers.

she applied online, someone phoned her and arranged a visit to our home, she filled out the relevant information, gave id etc, the woman then phoned there office and performed a credit check, it was approved, the next day she came back with the cash.

Both give between £50 and £500 for first loan subject to status. Also they dont do credit checks as such but do have some restriction for example where i live they dont lend to ppl in flats with buzzer entry doors.

Perhaps they just check internal records then ? I don't know, the agent said it was a "Credit check"
