Can parcels go recorded post?

Hi, I've just spent ages on Royal Mail site, can't you send parcels recorded? I have something to post that is 2kg, so cheapest will be a parcel, the buyer has now asked me to send recorded, I can't see anywhere on the site that says you can send parcels recorded.
Thank you

are you sending first or second class?
I dont think you can send recorded by 2nd class anymore i was told something like this in the P.O
  • Please note that sending an item recorded offers you no more protection than sending it by standard mail (with proof of posting) if the item is worth up to £39.

Recorded also doesn't guarantee to be delivered any quicker.

if you click on price finder and put in the weight of the parcel it should give you a list of all the options it can be sent by including recorded

Hi, thanks I have done & couldn't see the option for recorded as a parcel. Cheapest way as 1st class would be £7.30 parcel £4.41. It's the buyer who's asked for recorded, as personally I can't see the point, I've had lots of things sent to me recorded that haven't been signed for by me. Oh well if she insists on recorded it will be £7-30
    Thanks for your help

Yes, you can send 2nd class recorded. With parcels, your options are 'Recorded Delivery' or 'Special Delivery' (if value excceeds £40).

I find that I get a good response by going to my local P/O and asking to send the item 'Cheapest possible, with RD/SD'

In that case, first class recorded will be £8.05

If only our local PO was like that. I find in my local PO certain staff only offer the higher rate cost, l feel it is because so many PO's may be shut down they are trying to justify to Essex County Council who is looking to take PO's over that they are worth keeping open.

I send parcels of this nature via DHL/Fed-Ex via Parcel2go as they tracked and signed for on delivery

parcel post can't go recorded, so your package assuming just under 2kg will cost £4.41 as a parcel, but if you want it recorded it must go 1st class at a total cost of £7.30. make sure the buyer is happy to pay the full difference, and not just the 75p for recorded.

Hi Soolin, thank you that's how I read it on the RM site, I wouldn't pay that much extra for recorded but still anyway I have courier collections & am doing it that way.#
    Thanks all for your responses
