Yes, I'd take a stroller. Whilst the theme park isn't that big- the campsite is. I timed myself and a burly bloke (granted, he wasn't wearing shoes...) walking from the theme park side of the campsite, to the townside gates, and it was best part of 10 mins. It's a ten min stroll from the gates to the supermarket in town too. All do-able with a four year old, but if you've had a busy day swimming etc, you'll benefit from wheels! That said, you may be able to hire something there.
The only other thing I can think of relevant to a four year old, is to take something for his/her feet that you can tip sand out of easily. There's a big park thats open all evening, but it's sandy- so it gets everywhere.
Have a good time

2 quick questions if you dont mind please
First about transfer from schipol airport to park. bit nervous about train and bus with 2 kids and bags etc... OH wants to hire car - quoted 200 euros for 1 wk - is a hire car useful ? are there lots of car restrictions at park ?
secondly if you get to park early ( probably lunchtime) are you allowed the use theme park until caravan ready at 4 pm ?
ooops sorry that is 3 questions !
any advice very gratefully recieved:j0 -
Hi Lizzy
Can't help with the travel questions - I went hull - Rotterdam and its supposed to be a 25 mile journey from there but I kept getting lost and it took me 1.5 hours lol. Although I met lots of Irish people who had flown over with no problems.
Apart from a stop at the supermarket on the way there we didn't leave the park so I'm not sure a hire car will be of benefit as Amsterdam and the Hague are easily accessed by train. My son was only 8 when we went last year so had no interest in leavng the park.
You can use the facilities on arrival. We went with Eurocamp and you need to take photographs to go in your passes otherwise you have to walk to the centre of the park to the photo booth and back to reception which was a bit of a faff.
I would second someone else's comment about not feeling all that safe on site. Dutch teenagers seem to roam through all the time and they were veryaggresisive and rude. My son was beaten up in the waterpark by a gang of teenagers. The staff were completely uninterested and we were both very shaken. He refused to go back after that.
They don't believe in queuing in the theme park either. We also had our hired go-kart stolen twice - bolt cutters used on the chain!!!!
We found the food on site appalling and the bar only stocked beer, vodka and bacardi which was a bit bizarre. The organised entertainment was very infrequent (in June) and for the most part was a shambles. Eurocamp staff couldn't have been less interested, only beaten by the Dutch staff in nonchalance lol.
Overall, it was cheap, close and a good start for my first foray driving abroad as a single mum.
Walkie talkies are a great idea as there is definitely safety in numbers on this park.0 -
We went last year, with 2 18 yr olds , one 15, and one 10 yrs old. they all loved it, although when we go again, we shall have to take a shed load of 50c, as my son couldn't get enough of the water catapult thing lol.
We took the car from Hull to Rotterdam, which was very relaxed, and part of the holiday. It was a straightforward 50 min drive (using sat nav)
We went to Amsterdam, and used the park & ride just outside, which cost peanuts. The top favourite though was Scheveningen, by day & night, lovely place!!
We hired bikes on site and rode to leiden which is a lovely town, although I was so glad to get back, after not being on a bike for 20 yrs!!
We found food to be quite expensive, and did most of our shopping in Wassenaar, at C1000, which seemed the best, and is only around 10 mins walk from the site.
Hope you enjoy it!!!0 -
thank you both:beer:
any other tips welcome too thanks :T0
