I have previously used usrentacar, expedia and netflights.com to book car hire

The companies I hired from were Dollar, Thrifty and Budget

The first two times with Dollar and thrifty were good (Dollar slightly better I'd say but only by a hairline).

However, recently after a winter trip to the USA (New jersey/new york), our car hired from Budget skidded on Black ice and caused damage to the car.

On returning the car, the Budget staff were really concerned as to whether anyone was hurt in the crash and made sure we were okay before getting us to fill out a quick form and changing the car straight away.

I thought their service was amazing and would definately go with them again.
  • Thanks for the advice

By this do you mean LA theme parks, and if so which ones? Universal Studios is the only one I can think of which is actually in Los Angeles but there are also many others in the surrounding areas &/or within a couple of hours drive including Six Flags Magic Mountain up in Valencia, the two Disney parks down in Anaheium, Sea World in San Diego etc.

The following might be possible options depending on what you want to do during your visit, but you would need to price up against buying whatever tickets you want separately:

    SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CITY PASS
    http://www.citypass.com/city/socal.html?cmpid=google_La%20city%20pass&gclid=CIbHy%2d3Hl6ACFRhp4wodCi_meQ&id=PLecwHrc
Includes admission to Universal Studios Hollywood, Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, Sea World and the San Diego Zoo.
    Adult price $269

    LOS ANGELES GO CARD
    http://www.smartdestinations.com/attractionList.ep?filters=_d_Lax_Att&pass=go
Includes admission to Universal Studios Hollywood, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World, Legoland California and a whole list of other attractions including museums, boat tours etc.
Adult price $170/3 day, $200/5 day, $235/7 day (note there are also 1 & 2 day versions available but these don't include Universal)

If you're talking about actual parks (i.e. places with grass and trees!) then sorry, this is all irrelevant!

We wary of printing any discount coupons off the internet. I did for Universal Studios last year and they were fake!

You can often pick up discount coupons from fast food outlets in LA - Burger King, McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc; each seems to have a different offer. Also, it's worth asking at the hotel if they have discount coupons although be aware, there are never any for Disney. Universal, Seaworld San Diego and the Zoo are sometimes on offer.

I would also recommend checking Ralphs grocery store for tickets to Knotts Berry Farm (great theme park, smaller than Disney. Lots of roller coasters). They are often much cheaper than at the gate. There are several Ralphs in the LA/California region and one or two near Buena Park where Knotts is situated. You will need to sign up as a Ralph member (easy, you don't have to live in the USA and nobody asks); you can then buy the tickets very cheap. Offers are usually around July - September. Check the Knotts website as they usually state what discounts are available.

    Good Luck
