MOT date

Options
My MOT runs out 30/04/10 - website says can get it MOT'd 1 month before.

Can we get it done on the 31st March or would it have to be the 1st April?

There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.

In fact you can have the Test done up to a calendar month before the expiry date and have the new MOT forward-dated to the expiry date of the existing certificate. So if you have your car Tested during that month and it fails, this gives you time to have the repairs carried out and the car re-tested before the expiry of the original certificate and you are not disadvantaged as a result.

The MOT certificate has a box on it that states the earliest date that you can present the vehicle for a test.

Now been told elsewhere that on the new test certificates it tells you the earliest date - checked and it says the 1st April 2010

you can get it done whenever you want, the date is if you want the extra weeks added on IYKWIM
Say the current MOT expires 30/04/2010 you can get MOT done on 1/4/2010 and it will run out 30/4/2011 not 01/04/2011.

He could get it done now if he wanted, depends on circumstances...he may want to sell it with 12 months mot or just get it out of theway without losing the extra month.
    Give the guy a break!!!!:p

As long as you keep it off the road you will be OK. Keep the plate covered so busy bodies can't see it.
