Maybe someone ought to tell Tescos that families have changed quite a bit over the last 50 years and we don't all have 4 people in them

(Just my opinion by the way before I get jumped on ;))
    Mortgage Total: £49,992/ £75,000
    2026 Mortgage Overpayments Pot £579
  • I'm not "taking it up with the op", I'm posting my point of view which is what the reply button is for.
And "very little meat" means !!!!!! all when you're a vegetarian/vegan.
What's with some people on this site, always ready to jump on someone for nothing.
Let's all cower in the corner for fear of not having the same opinion as the MSE police.

you started it princess...the op has posted a perfectly good grabbit and you and the high and mighty veg police step up and start pulling holes in it...as i said take your gripe up with the supermarket not the op....if you're not interested in the grabbit move on...
  • What is it about some people that makes them think not eating meat makes you "high and mighty" ?

    Hmmm, guilty conscience perhaps.

This is indeed a good deal and I never said it wasn't, I just passed the remark that the supermarkets as a rule tend to forget that some of us would like more of a choice.
Judging by at least one response I'm not the only one.
If being a member here means just posting "thanks, awesome" then maybe they should put that in the forum rules.
  • maybe it's your patronising manner...now much a I would like to debate all night with you vegetables, I'm off to have a bacon sarnie.........mmm... good day to you all!!!
  • Great find op!

Im not a veggie at all but 110% agree with you Amanda. There should be more choice and consideration for others. And i dont find your posts patronising at all. swannee_D on the other hand.... hmmm....

  • What is it with these supermarkets?
Once again "stuff you" if you don't eat meat.

    For goodness sake!

If they start making exceptions for veggies, then people would be asking why they didn't cater for vegans, indians for halal meat, salt free, sugar free, blah blah blah free etc.....

They'll put on the most popular meals the masses want.

You could just give up and eat meat and enjoy the savings :j
    Mortgage as Sept 2012: £96,000
    Mortgage free: When i'm 39 / Sept 2023

    Mortgage repayment = £588
Tracker Rate 1.99% above base: 2.49%
  • It isnt making an exception for them at all. Its catering for everyone!!! How rude to suggest someone starts eating meat to save a few quid!!

There may only be 4-5 million strict vegetarians, but lots of meat eaters now enjoy vegetarian meals as they appreciate the taste and also are aware of the health benefits.

Most supermarkets include a meat free option in meal deals, so it is surely becoming expected that that option will be available?

Whether it is for health reasons, morality issues or religion, people who chose to omit anything from their diet should not be ridiculed in my opinion.

Swannee_D, I am NOT a vegetable. I do however exclude meat for moral, health and RELIGIOUS belief. I'm not going to rib anyone for eating meat, that is their choice, but I certainly do not expect to hear Vegetarians being ridiculed, this is 2010!

Why not put ONE healthy(no salt, sugar, excess fat) vegan or vegetarian version?
Indians for Halal? Halal is Islamic and I think you will find that not all Indians are following Islam nor that all Islamics are indian. MOST Indians are actually Hindu :D
