Free avast upgrade is it secure enough ?

Hello recently put avast 4.8 home edition onto my laptop. Free trial is about to expire, was prompted to upgrade, chose free option, is this option secure enough, or should i have upgraded to avast internet security at a cost of £25.I donot do online banking but do some internet shopping at times.Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yes, free version is sufficient IMO (it's what I have); but make sure you also have some anti-malware software installed.

    Thread/suggestions here ;)

That's what I have also nat, although it gets short shrift from some on here...personal choice I suspect;). You might want to switch to Firefox too and install some of the suggested (in said thread) add-ons like NoScript.
