Cooking oil on carpet!

I enjoyed reading this thread. I spilled veggie oil from a deep fat fryer on my white carpet in the dining room. :eek: yeah, this was not good news. I tried some spot remover for carpets but was really at a loss on how to get rid of it. It left a long squiggly path that has darkened over the years. Yes, years. Today, I tried a grease cutting detergent with hot hot water to soften the spot and loosen the dirt. Then I sopped up as much of the soapy film as I could with fresh clean water. Then I sprayed the spot remover for carpets on it and I think it's gone. The true test will be over the next week to see if it attracts dirt again. That's the problem with oil. It gets very gummy over time. If this doesn't work, I will try something like a goo remover and see if that helps. Thanks for this thread. Daisy0
