Watching tv on laptop using Wintv usb

During a recent declutter I came across an old Hauppauge Wintv usb gizmo and rigged it up to my laptop in the kitchen, using a cable from the skybox in the living room, and it works a treat. However the picture could do with improving, it's a little indistinct and fuzzy. Is there a setting on my pc, presumably something to do with the graphics, that I might be able to tweak to improve it? Or perhaps something I need to buy to make it clearer? Or better still free? I'm not looking for the same type of quality you'd get on a main tv, just something to watch the news while I'm cooking tea etc but would still like to make it as good as I can.

Thank you

Liz

Presuming you have a good broadband connection, then why not just watch the news directly from the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7459669.stm
    Or Sky http://news.sky.com/skynews
To improve the graphics quality may mean upgrading your graphics card in your laptop

Inadequate broadband for live tv-watching sadly. Can you recommend a helpful site which would guide me through selection of better graphics card?

    Thanks

    Hi Liz,
you don't say what your laptop is :D , but have you tried the Usb tuner on a desktop to see if the picture is still bad, it could be a problem with it
