Hi just wanted to say we have a Howdens kitchen and it's really nice. We bought a new build 2.5 years ago and it's been great..the plumber however ripped the kickboards out to do some work fitting our dishwasher, washing machine etc and ruined them so they need refitting at some point but not too badly damaged so we will live with them for the time being! The doors have started misaligning now but i'm sure just need tightening up! the worktops are black with a slight grey speckle to them and imo are the best ones we have had..we have rented so many houses with various ones, i clean holiday homes with super shiny granite ones etc and honestly think ours is so much easier to keep..it hasnt scratched at all which is good and cleans up really well.
Have no idea how much it was as came with the house of course but my friend has recently had a B&Q one done, much smaller than ours and it was over £6k..half of it arrived damaged etc so wasn't impressed with thiers although now done months on it looks lovely.
Good luck with what you choose x

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Mortgage-free Glee!
will do leveller, and thanks gabyjane too.

There are 4 kichens I like the look of (from the brochure, will see in the flesh tomorrow) - the Haworth oak and with a black w/top like they have in the brochure; the Holbrook oak; the Lyndhurst shaker style beech and the Malvern light oak.

Because I'm opening up the kitchen with the dining room, the kitchen units will be more like a piece of furniture IFKWIM, a white shiny one would look awful in that setting IMHO.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j
  • Hi Gabyjane, its quite usual for doors to need adjusting after a while. The worse culprits are pull-out larders as people tend to over load them.

I know the the worktop your talking about, its one of the better ones but it will probably wear through quicker than it should and you may see patches of white (laminate base) showing through.I'm not a fan of their worktops. They use to send them out shrink wrapped, polystyrene endge caps to protect them. They haven't arrived like that for the last few kitchens Ive fitted ,which is madness really as they can damage easily if dropped.

What I do like about them is for instance the kitchen Ive just finished I was short on cornice/light pelmet.I was very careful to make the most of the lengths that they sent, but came up short by 600mm.I phoned the branch, next morning at 10am the rep arrived with another length.Theyre not perfect but then I'm yet to meet anyone who is.....(myself included BTW)

Hi Leveller thanks..yes i tightened them up about a year ago but need doing again and i cant seem to do them..(have posted but no success!)..the worktop takes a hammering..we chop on it very occasionally and it doesnt seem to damage at all (im quite anal and check!!)..the thing i like is it wipes down really well with no smears etc..last week i cleaned a property with granite and omg i spent ages going over and over to no success..nightmare!! i'll keep my cheaper one anyday!.
  • I got my worktops for my Howdens kitchen from here...

I am near enough to be able to go to their showroom and the staff were very helpful. My fitter has an account with the local branch and as they deliver in our area every day was able to phone in the order and it was delivered the next day.
  • Both my sons have Howdens kitchens, installed last year. I fitted one of them and the other was done by one of Howden's recommended fitters.

I consider myself a pretty good amatuer (I can take my time to get things right - the experts get it right quickly - usually).

Both kitchens look great and we found their design service very good. Although they are supposed to be trade only, they sold direct to me - probably beacause we bought the two in the sales?

Quality is very good and the odd problem was quickly put right. We changed the design slightly after goods were delivered and they happily changed items and even refunded for any that were not eventually used.

I will probably use them when I redo my own kitchen - promised myself the summer off though.
