I don't know where you get the energy to make the same 'joke' over and over, on multiple threads, week in week out.

It does lose a little of its impact, once you have seen it for the 100th time though.

We should eliminate the optional postal vote (as opposed to a postal vote on the basis of disability or absence) on the grounds of the culture in Muslim households.

It all too often transfers all political power to the man at the head of the household, effectively disfranchising women 90 years after they got the vote :(.

Postal voting also encourages corruption among the entire electorate, not just in Muslim households.

And we ought to be required to bring some form of ID to polling stations as well.

Otherwise criticising elections in countries like Afghanistan is a bit rich.

Unfortunately Gordon doesnt want a end to postal voting here is what Private Eye had to say about it recently

“... Meanwhile back in the real world, polling experts are looking with horror at the explosion of under-regulated postal voting that Gordon Brown will allow as he tries to hold on to power. What was once a small part of the electoral process is now a big business. Labour created a company in Londonderry, the illiterately titled Opt2Vote Ltd, which boasts it specialises in designing and delivering a range of solutions to address the changing needs of the UK electoral services market. In three years it has dealt with a staggering 10m postal votes. Mike Smithson, the polling guru who runs the website politicalbetting.com, told the Eye that the fact that postal votes are now a money-making opportunity showed that Labour had created a system beyond the control of returning officers. There were too many postal votes for them to cope with.

‘Returning officers and their staff have local knowledge,’ he said. ‘If 10 people register at a terraced house they know can sleep only three, they will be suspicious. How can a company based in Londonderry spot potential frauds?’

To which the answer is that Labour does not want the ballot processors in Northern Ireland to spot potential frauds, not at least until the next election is safely out of the way. “

It brings to mind the answer an IRA man gave to the question about how he had voted in 1918.

"Early and often." (for Sinn Fein).

Just like discredited UK postal voting in the 21st Century :(.

I don't. We're born. We live. We die. End of.

Or do you mean believe in something like the Royal Mail First class service - that the letter you post will get there the next day?

Grr. You're one of those clever types aren't you.

    Ok.

That's what I believe. That I don't believe in any spiritual things.

Except Heaven of course. And Noah.

oh for goodness sake. totally unnecessary scare-mongering. britain is not about to be taken over by sharia law any more than a jehovah's witness is likely to be voted prime minister. tower hamlets has a high muslim population. clearly therefore muslim groups will have influence. we live in a democracy.

next you'll be saying the tories have been infiltrated just because george osborne's brother is a muslim convert!

Completely unnecessary racist comment reported for deletion.

    Abuse Report Received [#325470]

It is hardly racist given Islam is a religion and not a race.

Anyone who has read Private Eye's Rotten Boroughs over the last few years will hardly be surprised by this. More a case of a one party fiefdom being dominated by the local party and their mates. The danger with articles like this is they feed the BNP and their bigotry.

btw is this the extemist group to which you refer?

    http://www.islamicforumeurope.com/live/ife.php

such extremist actions as a big read in which they attempt to break the guiness world record for the most children reading with an adult.

the terms jihad and sharia can be interpreted in many ways. i'm an atheist so don't really agree with any of it but jihad is generally used to refer to any struggle with 'evil' - often an internal struggle.
