Breastflow bottle

A few months ago there was a freebee posted for a breastflow bottle.....

Did anyone apply for the bottle and then never get round to using it? If so would anyone be kind enough to pass it on to me (I will cover the P&P)

My litle baby is 12 weeks and I've got a hospital appointment next week and it means leaving him for a few hours, I've tried to give him expressed milk in both avent and tommee tippee bottles but he's not a happy bunny.:( If I could get my hands on one of these bottles it would really help!

Mothercare stock this bottle but it's online order only with 5 days delivery which will probably too late - if anyone has one which they could post on Monday I would get it on time....and I would be forever grateful.

Anyway enough of my rambling! If anyone out there can help please pm me.

PS failing that does anyone have any ideas on anything that might help him take from a bottle or different brands I could try?

Instead of bottle feeding try cup feeding or syringe feeding EBM. Make sure its someone else doing the feeding as he will smell you and that will be it. You could also try Dr Browns bottles they seem to work well.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Not sure whether you'll manage to get a breastflow bottle or not, but there are other ways of feeding a bf baby who won't take a bottle. Seeing as baby is 3 months you might try a sippy cup (you'll probably need one sooner or later anyway) if an adult controls the tipping of the cup baby can successfully drink expressed BM, although it does take time and patience. I've fed from a normal cup too, it's harder to control than a sippy cup, but if you use a glass/ seethrough mug you can see exactly where the milk is iyswim. While neither are ideal, they can help at a pinch. My DS2 wouldn't entertain a bottle ever, and had to be cup-fed on the odd occassion I couldn't be there.

    It's only a game

if baby is hungry he will take a bottle.. just not from you! You are the lunch box! Cup feeding is usually the easiest way to get milk into them.. just an ordinary lidless beaker and tip it in little sips, baby needs to be sitting quite upright for it though and have a towel instead of a bib!

Could he not come with you being that he is so young? I have takenmine to all sorts of appointments much youner than that.. Tiddles came for an MRI at 3 weeks.

I don't know about these bottles, sound good though. are they worth getting? we can't get our little one (11wks) to take a bottle. I took our daughter out for 4 1/2 hours yesterday and he just refused to take the bottle and the smell of EBM had him screaming wanting it but hating the bottle. He was a little grumpy when we came back but not uncontrollable. (and then fed every hour for the next 5 hours!lol)

Anyway, I'd just take the baby with you to the appoinment. Oliver comes everywhere with me at the moment, last week was the drs and dentist, our daughter has a hospital appointment in a couple of weeks and I just assumed I'd take him along.
if you're worried about concentrating on the appointment is there someone who could come too and sit in the waiting area with the baby when you actually go in?

When DD was tiny she was ill and wouldn't feed from me as she was really bunged up and couldn't breathe properly when feeding so was getting really upset. I didn't have any bottles in the house, though even if I did she would prob have had the same problem with them as she would have had to suck them. Anyway I expressed into a cup and spoon fed it to her, only had to do it for one day though so not too bad, as it was a lengthy process.
  • Thank you everyone for your advice. Normally baby comes everywhere with me but this one is not really suitable it's a long one and a bit of a sensitive lady issue to do with a few probs I had during the birth - I've got to have a few intrusive tests done if you get my drift!!

kindof I've pm'd you back thank you! xx- sorry I've been out and about this arvo which is why I didn't reply sooner.

Cranezoe - a few people have recommended them to me - check out their webpage I think they look fab! I just wish I'd heard of them earlier!

Everyone else - thank you I feel a bit more armed with info and feel like I've got a few more things to try if he wont accept the bottle. It is only for one feed so fingers crossed everything will go smoothly!

  • Just to let you know I've seen these in mothercare store too if you're really stuck. I had them for my son and at one point it was the only bottle he would use. Good luck
