Problems connecting to websites

HI All Hope you can help me, I bought my husband a brand new Dell netbook which he has had for about 2 weeks, noticed yesterday that I am ok to connect to google and a few other websites but when I google for somthing and then click on the link it either comes up with a page saying OOPS this link is broken DNS error- cannot find server or it just transfers me through to a completly different website, for example i googled DNS error and clicked on a link for yahoo answers and ended up on ebay???

Really hope someone can help as its really fustrating, I have McAfee installed and I am using Windows XP.

Thanks in advance

Hannah
