Wish I'd read this first, I got one from Jordans Cereal and I clicked so I will now need to do afull system scan and update on my software protection. Thanks for the warning.

Hi everyone

I have been lurking on the compers board for about 7 months now. I have had quite a lot of nice wins and have been really enjoying it even though I don't post much.

Unfortunately though twice in the last month my pc has become infected with the "Security Centre Virus" while doing the comps on the comp board. I have got virus protection on my pc but it had no effect.

I have also posted this on the techies board to see if anyone has any suggestions there but wanted to see if anyone here knew anything about it.

Has this happened to anyome else or do you know if there is a way I can stop it from happening again?

For those of you who don't know what the Security Centre Virus is - it generates a fake message which looks exactly like a message from Windows Security Centre saying that it has found viruses on your computer. It then asks you to pay to have them removed. It is very tricky to get rid of once it is on your pc.

I must admit that apart from holidays and the odd random prize which doesn't appeal, I do enter the majority of comps on the main board and click on the links which people have posted even if I haven't heard of the company before. Perhaps I am going to have to be more picky with the comps I enter.
