Hello everyone, sorry I haven't been around much. I am desperately trying to find a house so we don't loose our mortgage rate! I wondered if anyone here lives on a main road? I have seen a stunning house, which my DH is objecting to as it is on a main road. I have to agree with him that it is not ideal in that respect, but the amount of space the house has is amazing. It is down to £183K from £220K so my bargain hunter instincts are springing to the fore!
Am I wrong to push for it? Is it really awful living on a busy road?
So enough of me. Hope everyone else is ok. I haven't even had chance to enter any comps. Also thinking they might get sent here and I will have moved lol!
Hope everyone is having a happy lucky day0 -
Hi sphynx, I lived on a main road before my house now and I ws worried about noise and kids running out. Once we had double glazing in, noise wasn't so bad and when there was some noisy traffic, you got used to it anyway. As for kids running out, we taught dd not to go near busy road and got secure fencing anyway. I live on a quieter road now which is quite narrow and I do worry about kids running out near traffic now as my neighbour has a high bush and we still get cars taking a short cut. So I would say wherever you live, you will aways have issues!
My advice is to go with your instinct, if you love the house just imagine yourself living there! Good luck.Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -

If it's noise you're worried about then I really wouldn't! I lived in a house that was backed onto a train line and had trains going past every 5 minutes, I didn't even notice them after a few days!! Then we moved to a house on a main road where the garden was at the side of it, we have kids and they never went anywhere near it and the noise wasn't even that bad.
You're right. All houses have drawbacks, you need to go with what feels right, if you love the house and it's a bargain, and your heart says you should go for it, then I wouldxx JoJo xx
:heart2: And only now I see the light...:heart2:

Thank you Wingobins and Sweetiepie, I am feeling better already. It is the noise really that would bother me. I wouldn't let the girls out the front anyway and I wouldn't need to as there is a very big garden at the back (and a lovely conservatory for me to sit and sip tea whilst they play lol). I really don't think I can convince DH though. He just phoned me about when we are going to second view and said "why don't you go with your Mum"? Men. I can't believe he is willing to miss out just because he is pig headed!0

just seen that you can now remove your thanks form a post!
That is useful if you use "Thanks" to keep track of what you've entered (like most of the regular compers here I am guessing), and you've clicked thanks and find that for some reason, you can't enter that comp and want to come back!0 -
