Hi all,
I don't think I should "cheat" by selling my flat and paying off my debts. I've never liked the idea because it robs you of the feeling of conquering your debt. It means that the debt just disappears and I'm not sure that the lesson will have been learnt!
Instead I am seriously considering re-investing the money I make from selling my flat and to then keep paying off my debts as currently by the end of the year.

All within budget, honest! I did try to get out of the lunch but it serves me right for agreeing to it in the first place. At least next time I won't have to pay...LBM: Nov 2004 Debt Apr06: £19,273.46 (Highest)

Right, I've been going through my budget to "trim" it a bit and to make sure everything is accounted for. I've calculated how much "surplus" I have by the end of the year and will try to feed as much surplus at the end of the month back to my debt payment account as I've had to "lend" my spending account quite a bit of money lately as it appears most of my bills arrive at the beginning of the year!
I'm also being sorely tempted by a new laptop and have been cruising ebay - a bad sign - but the price is climbing steadily so I don't think I'll be able to afford it anyway. I've now reduced my "gadget" budget too, so I don't have the money to spend anymore.
I will stick to my budget!LBM: Nov 2004 Debt Apr06: £19,273.46 (Highest)

First Direct
Sent off my letter to First Direct asking for £30 back in bank charges from my Joint Account. This is the last lot as I can't find any more. Hopefully they will stay true to form and just give me the money back. They must be a little annoyed with me for not just claiming it all back in one go but, hey, I'm only being as helpful as they were :rotfl:
Not heard back from them yet! I have to send the follow up on Friday - must remember...LBM: Nov 2004 Debt Apr06: £19,273.46 (Highest)

Hi all,
Written and posted a complaint letter to Halifax over the £100 incentive for opening a high interest current account debacle!
I have also asked them to close my "cardcash" account.to you HBOS plc.

Was sorting through statements to figure out how much I actually spent doing up the flat and it's quite a big number...
But anyway, I had a look through my statements and found, in my old long cancelled Halifax credit card that I had been charged £25 for going over my credit limit...
I smell another bank charges letter!
I couldn't, however, look at all my old Egg credit card statements as they WERE all online  and I never printed them...
Can I get them in any way?LBM: Nov 2004 Debt Apr06: £19,273.46 (Highest)

Write to them under the data protection act asking for all their records they have on you. There is a statory fee of £10."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

The PPI demon lurks again...
I bought a dishwasher and a fridge from Comet and Currys respectively back in 2003.
I was just looking at the paperwork to figure out how much they had cost, again to put into the figures for my flat, and I'll be damned but I think both of them put PPI on top of both loans!!!
I hadn't even realised.
I feel another two letters coming on but I'm not sure how to exactly figure out who to write to. I guess I'll write to HFC and Comet Time Card first off.
Grrrrr :mad:LBM: Nov 2004 Debt Apr06: £19,273.46 (Highest)

OK I've checked again and I don't think the Timecard rubbish did PPI me, but the HFC paperwork indicates that PPI was "chosen"!!!LBM: Nov 2004 Debt Apr06: £19,273.46 (Highest)

Anyone got a suggested/recommended way of writing this?
