They were my favs too -are the Artemis fowl books similar then ?MrsBartolozzi wrote: »I too liked the Secret Seven, but my fave were the "Five Find-outers and dog". With Fatty the leader (who I was reminded of whilst reading the Artemis Fowl books recently hmm) and the other kids whose names I forgot, who solved mysteries in their spare time.
I have read loads of young adult books since Harry Potter - the Spooks series are excellent , so is Angie Sage series and Jenny Nimmo.0 -
The Magic Faraway Tree series are by far my favourite books of all time! I still have my very worn copy from the seventies of the Magic Faraway tree but I also have a new hardback of all three. At one point they changed the kids names- I know Joe Bessie Fanny and Connie aren't very 'noughties' but they shouldn't be allowed to change these classics!I can't look into the future, but the futures where I'm walking to0

Artemis Fowl books are a really good read! They are not much like the Enid Blyton stories, but I found the character Artemis reminded me of Fatty - in charge, intelligent, arrogant, seems to be above parental control, older than his years etc. That's all really. Much, much better than Mr Potter IMO! (ducks for the backlash

It's only a game

I wondered about these for my kids but expected the main character would be female as in the Greek 'Artemis' (Roman 'Diana'). DS2 complained loudly about the book - he's just as picky!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
