SAS and Malwarebytes Scanning

Does it matter if I only use quick scans for Super Anti Spyware, and Malwarebytes?

There is a huge difference in time. Is there a big difference in finding spy/malware?

Comments

  • I run both, at different times, in both ways.

Generally a full scan once a month and a quick scan weekly.

If the quick scan finds stuff I then run a full scan.

Do you think you have a problem?

Try running a full scan and see for yourself. Likelyhood is that if you never ran a full scan and don't have a strong firewall and antivirus, then it'll find stuff. But only one way to find out.
A full scan with malwarebytes is highly recommended - but to save time and resources, only run it on your windows drive - usually your 'C' drive.
Freebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A
  • Well I usually run full scans weekly to be honest. Having today decided that I didn't have the 1.5 hours to do so I ran quick scans. Malwarebytes found a Malware.Trace file.

I have quarantined it but that's a trojan and malware trace in 2 weeks after not having anything for over a year.

I'm wondering if there's any inherent weakness anywhere.

How often do you find things when running scans? Rarely?, Common?

I now tend to recommend that people do a quick scan; on the other hand many people here swear by a full scan. I only ever run a scan if I detect unusual behavior in my machine's performance; a sudden diminished speed of my machine; and potential surreptitious browser re-direction. That's just me; again, many others run the scan par for the course in their scanning routine ;)

    HTH.
