Never put anything on Ebay before, so how much should I start it for?
What BIN? I know what I search for, but don't want to start at 99p, just want to get my money back for it? Suggestions on a forum post please!!!

Start it at the very least you're prepared to accept for it. So, if you want £50 for it, start it in or around that. You could always list it at a Buy It Now price (a little over what you want/expect for it) instead of as an auction, and add a 'Best Offer' option so that you can consider any lower offers that you may get. You don't have to accept an offer if it's less than you want for it.
I personally wouldn't use the auction format with a Buy It Now price as, as soon as someone bids, the BIN option disappears so it's often a waste of the fee involved in adding the BIN.
(That all made sense in my head...but seems to have lost something in translation to the screen!)0 -
What's BIN?
Buy it now means you can put it on for, say £30 and if someone wants it, they have to pay that price, just like a dress hanging in Top Shop!
I'm not sure if new sellers can do BIN's though? I know that used to be the case, but it may have changed again now.
Don't put it on for 99p, incase it does sell for 99p!
Don't forget that eBay will take their cut if it sells and if you get paid by Paypal, they will take a cut too.
So, say you bought it for £50, sell it for £55 BIN and you should get your money back.
You could also add a 'best offer' to your BIN too, which means that it has a buy it now price of £50, but people can also make you offers and it's upto you whether you accept their offers or not xTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

with a dress i would say list it at the list you are willing to pay for it bear in mind ebay charges a final value fee of 10% so if your dress sells for £200 you owe ebay £20, im niot sure off the top of my head what paypal charge.
Try listing it on pre-loved - again not sure how much it costs to list it but they dont take fee's.
Its very rare to get 2 brides bidding on the same dress, so an auction is useless to you as you need 2 peopple to have an auction.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T

Come again lol?
You mean list it at the least you are willing to sell it for?
Paypal charge 3.4% plus 20p, or they did do, not sure if that's gone up though.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

No worries lol, we all do it at times!
Suprised Paypal haven't put their fees up though, can't believe eBay's are 10% now, shocking!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
It is shocking i had a massive big clear out after moving house, i should have done it before moving to save me lugging it around but i ran out of time, anyway i listed it all on ebay and bloody hell i was shocked when i got my ebay invoice.
I now think it would have been better to car boot it all, well most of it, just so im not lining ebay & paypals pockets.

what dress are you selling fran?
It might help if you can see it!! The picture is not that good as my daughter seems unable to stand up straight in the presence of a camera (missing the rolls eyes smillies here!)

thanks for all the advice, buy on Ebay but never been brave enough to sell as the horror stories about 'bad' buyers puts me off a bit!!
ETA: Its not as Red as the picture shows, its the flash!! Its a wine/burgandy colour!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
How about starting it low on an auction on Ebay but putting a reserve price on it so that it definitely won't sell for less than what you want for it? That way it gets more people interested.0
