resitting a year at uni or transferring to a different course...?

Hi, I was just wondering where you would stand money wise if you either had to resit a year at uni or you transferred to a different course part way through your current course. Would the SLC only pay for equvallent to three years worth of study regardless of whether you're having to fund an extra year or would they pay you and your tuition fees for as long as you are attending a course?

TIA

They usually cover the length of your course + 1 year for false starts. So if you needed to repeat one year, or decided your dgree wasn't for you and started a new course after your first year you'd be OK.
If you have extenuating circumstances leading to you having to restart/resit you may get more than just the +1 year of funding.
  • thankyou :D
  • I had to leave a course in the 2nd year due to medical reasons. If it's for a genuine reason and you have proof (i had hospital records) then they will make allowances for extra time like that. In my case they did anyway, as i've been told i'm OK for the 3 year course i'm now on (now in my 2nd year again!).
