Hi All,
I recently wrote to WF re a PPI claim on a loan which I took out Feb 2001 and settled on Oct 2003.
They state I reget to inform you that my decision is to reject your complaint because it is outside the relevant time limits. I understand that this will be a disappointment but what follws is my explanation of why i have rejected your complaint and how the time limit applies. The rules of the fsa states that where the complaint relates to an event that took place more than 6 years ago, we are required to investigate your complaint. This is becasue it is very difficult to faily investigate events that took place a long time ago. the law also allows firms to destot documents and records more than six years old. this makes a fair investigation very difficult.
after that it stated to contact the FOS if i am not happy.
I got the information regarding how much i paid monthly for the ppi over the phone from one of the guys who works in the office, so they do have the information to be able to investigate.
What shall I do?
Thanks.

Hi there
I would therefore, if this was the final response, move on to the FOS, you can do this by ringing them and request they send you a complaints form through the post, or download and print from their website:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
Enclose written copies of correspondence with your complaints form, and anything you have to support your case.
Good point made there, if they have the information they that proves they could investigate, you could also mention this on your complaints form as well, so you were more less just told to go away because of the 6 year timescale.
Many have still been successful with reclaiming from the 90's even earlier, having the information does help.
Good luck, please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
