metric meter am I being charged for imperial?
Options
Hi all,
I've just received my gas bill from Ebico and I'm not too sure if it's right. About 6 months ago we had a new meter fitted due to a leak on the old one which was spotted by the person who read the meter.
Our new meter has M3 on it (not sure about the old meter) so this would lead me to believe from the Watchdog article that it's metric. We have used 694 units for the period 14 Nov 09 to 18 Feb 10 which was a proper reading not estimated. Our bill then has a 694 units x correction factor 1.02264 which = 709.71 cu mtrs this is then multiplyed by the calorific value of 39.1 / conversion factor of 3.6 so units converted to kilowatt hours = 7708.23.
Is this right? Should my bill have the conversion factor on with it being a metric meter?

7708 kWh / 694 meter units = 11.1
If you have been charged for 7708 kWh then you are being correctly charged for a metric meter. Bad luck.
(You are mistaking the kilowatt conversion factor (3.6) for the metric conversion factor (2.83), a common confusion.)0 -
Thanks Kim xx
I'm not complaining about the bill - I've used it I'll pay for it. Was expecting a high one with hubby being at home since being made redundant in November.
I just wanted to check that it had been worked out on the metric system as I couldn't log on to my account to check against an old bill0
