  • Thanks everyone for your comments, feel a lot better now about taking it away. Excellent tip about using the PC for making calls back to the UK, hadn't even crossed my mind that I could use it for that purpose.

  • I use an AAO, and for sensitive stuff while away from home I connect the PC to my phone (via bluetooth or a USB cable) and then connect to the internet through the phones data connection

    I have free data on my phone plan, and apparently I should not use the phone as a modem, but Ive never had any complaints from Orange or O2
  • Like iamcornholio I also use mobile broadband while I am out and about and not near a free wifi hotspot like Weatherspoons.

    Vodafone's is also good enough for me to play World of Warcraft on, so it is also likely to be faster than most public wifi as well!
