The smart price bag of onions is excellent. Says it lasts only a week... a bag lasts me 6 weeks and not one has ever gone off!

Pasta is good, as is rice. Noodles make a quick snack.

Smart price curry sauce is a must have! Casserole sauce is good, but its cheaper to make your own using passata and herbs.

Smart price tins of: Carrots, kidney beans, peas & sweetcorn are good.

Smart price frozen mixed veg is also brilliant.

Squash is alright, although I much prefer the sainsburys basics bottle of summer fruits.

I have found that smart price stuffing makes nice burgers or meatloaf (added to mince).

    Ketchup is good.

Thinks I've found to have no point in buying are things like:

Lemonade - Can buy better quality in Aldi for 18p a bottle
Cheese - normal brands are always on offer (and therefore cheaper /kg)
Ready meals - Then again I never eat ready meals as they are more expensive than cooking it yourself!

DO NOT buy the Value Frozen Mince

Why not? I bought some when they were 40p a while back and they turned out to be some nice bolognese, burgers and meatloaf. Just drain off the fat before adding sauce and its fine!

Considering buying the sp washing powder this week!
    Is it any good?

I prefer the smart price washing liquid ,I find the soap powder doesn't disolve very well.

Didn't want to start a new thread but this might help someone:

I buy 'lazy' garlic for certain dishes and moved over to Asda own brand when this vl-garlic-125g_1.jpg became very expensive and the jar shrunk :D. Yesterday I noticed in Asda that the branded one is cheaper per kg. I've switched back and might stock up a few if the price stays the same.
