Credit card companies are basically privately operated benevolent societies designed to maximise personal well-being through synergistic collaboration with retailers. They provide a tool specifically designed to facilitate the focussing of our attention on the here-and-now, thereby allowing us to achieve an immediacy to gratification without having to endure the tedium of considering consequences or other complex fiscal matters or arcane terms like so-called "affordability" and "budgeting".
I applaud rictus' perseverance in the face of a virtual legion of naysayers and very much look forward to further posts from him entitled "I've been robbed", "Surely this can't be right" and "How long does a default stay on my credit report?"."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
