Samsung MP3 Player Extended Repair Times

Last month, I had purchased a Samsung 16 GB YP-R1 MP3 Player from
Hughes Direct. I was seriously disappointed when the unit failed to
boot within one week of use and I had to send it back to Samsung for
repairs. (retailer was out of stock)
However, I'm now faced with an issue of my mp3 player having an
indefinite repair time. I sent in my mp3 player on the 30th of January
2010 and was promised a very long working repair period of 20 days.
However I was assured that most issues are fixed within a week.
I have received no updates from Samsung with regards to the repairs
throughout the month and I have had to call in every week only to find
a different reason as to why my mp3 player is still not back with me.
I would like some compensation for the extended period of repair time
on Samsung's part. I have had the mp3 player for less than 1 week and
had it in repair for more than 1 month with no end in sight. If the
mp3 player comes back to me, at least 1 month of my warranty period
has been expanded through no fault of my own.
What can I do at this point in time?

Get on the phone to Samsung. I know that Hughes are the retailer and that etc, etc, but I must tell you a story of a customer's MP3 player that went in for repair with them, took far too long, and Samsung sent back a brand new MP4 player with twice the storage as apology.
It's been longer than the 20 days they quoted, get them to replace. And it'll probably be easier to do this via Samsung.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
