EON - Read single phase meter

I have just got the keys to our house, but am having trouble trying to take an electricity meter reading.

There is a grey box about 6" X 3", with 'Single phase watt hour meter' and 'Property of EON' on it. There is a digital display on the box, but it is blank.

Is that where the meter reading should be? as its blank how do i get a meter reading, is it best to ring EON?

Are there any buttons? Try pressing them.

If not, you may need to ring the existing supplier to the property, which may not be the same company as owns the meter.

Hi robj_brum,

Premier has given good advice, I would contact the current supplier of the property.

Is the meter in the grey box? or is that the actual meter? you may need a meter box key to open the grey box.

You can just ask your supplier for a meter box key, they will send you one out.

Thanks, ill try and find who supplies the property currently.

The grey box is the actual meter, there is what seems to be a digital display screen, but its blank so i cant take a reading as we only got the property on Friday. I cant see any obvious buttons on it either.

I see, yes speak to the supplier, it sounds to me like the battery has gone in the meter and that's why you can't see the meter reading display.

They will book an appointment for you.
