Neff Appliances in Ikea Cabinet

Hi. After reading about Ikea kitchen quality on these boards we have decided to take the plunge! However, we can't seem to find a tall cabinet to house a Neff Oven and Combi Oven. The Ikea cabinets are the right width and depth, it is is the height of the "slots" on their oven housing cabinets that is the problem. They have two Nutid appliances that are the same height as the Neff ones, so I spoke to Ikea customer services, and they said it wouldn't be possible to house these two appliances in one cabinet. I asked if one of their other tall oven housing cabinets could be adapted in some way to accomodate this but she said no. Is this right? I asked if the top cabinet door could be shortened to accomdate the height but she said that was not possible, especially as we are having Abstrakt glossy cabinets. Would really appreciate advice on this, as we are completely new to installing our own kitchen.

We just bought the standard Ikea appliance cupboards and we have a zanussi oven and baumatic microwave fitted in each. We bought appliances that were the same size as the ikea ones however I don't think it would have mattered as we just bought what ever size doors/drawes to fit the space around them if that makes sense. We decided we wanted a drawer under the cooker for baking trays and tins and as you can see there is a slight white edge that you can see however I've seen lots of preofessionally fitted kitchens with this issue as well.

  • It can probably be done. You need to find out what spaces are need for the 2 applainces. Take this away from the height of the cabinet itself and what you are left with is the total length of doors needed. If they dont sell 2 doors which equal this exactly you may need to use a smaller door and a filler. As for the carcass you will need to put the shelfs in where needed. Dont expect the shelf clips to hold an applaince. Wooden supports underneath the applaince shelf is the best way to help support the shelf.
  • Thank you both. We are so new to this we didn't know if the shelves were only able to be fitted in particular slots in the cabinet. We didn't even realise you could buy different sized doors, we thought you just had to use the ones the cabinet is supplied with! Can doors/filler panels be cut to size or will 'rough edges' spoil the look do you think?

I think the answer would be dependent on which Ikea kitchen you choose. I'm sure some doors would be better than others. Ours for instance have the inset panels so would not be suitable. The doors are available in so many different sizes I don't think you would have a problem. The only one we struggled with was the one under the cooker hence us deciding to put a drawer in there as well. Don't forget the carcases are all the same so you don't have to have cupboards as such you can use the drawer fittings and fronts and have those instead. We're currently looking at swapping our drawer under the oven for the Ikea warming drawer anyway so it would be perfect.
The shelves can be fitted wherever you like them which made this great for getting the right height for the oven and microwave. So many fitted kitchens seem to have the microwaves in particular so high!
