Hi,
I have just made a claim on my Direct Line policy, with my car being flooded.
My car has since been recovered. My question is what is the proceedure, I had my phone, ipod, sat nav etc ruined which is included in your insuranceI am told. How do I claim for my belongings, I have them with me and can get the reciepts?
Also how long does a claim take from start to me getting money minus excess? The car is a complete right off.
Oh I am fully comp.
All the best.

Direct Line will tell you if you ask them.0

Direct Line's Motor Policy says:
"2 Personal belongings
We will pay for loss of, or damage to, clothing and personal
belongings caused by fire, theft, attempted theft or accident,
while they are in or on your car. The most we will pay for any one
incident is the amount shown in the schedule. If you ask us to pay
someone else, we will have no further responsibility to you once
we have done so."
So look on your Schedule. The limit for personal belongings is likely to be low - usually around £250.The man without a signature.0 -
You would be better claiming on your home insurance for the personal effects (Assuming you have the right cover) as they will pay on a new for old basis where as your car insurers will deduct for wear and tear0
