Hi All
Can anyone give me advise?
While negotiating the purchase of a new car, the salesman deliberately lied to me about the cost of the monthly repayments in order to sell me 'GAP' insurance. Basically, he told me the car was costing me more than it actually was and the GAP insurance less ( he told me it was only an extra £1, but the real figure was over £10, and i would be "crazy not to take advantage as it only costs £1 per month" ). This was a deliberate attempt to deceive me, i suspect he gets good commission on the GAP insurance.
When i discovered this i was livid, it's really tainted the excitement of buying a new car. I have cancelled the GAP insurance and expressed my disgust to the sales manager at the dealership, but i still feel like a victim of a scam.
I would expect a 'dodgy' salesman at a back-street second hand car lot, but not at a globally recognized manufacturers own dealership network.
What to do next?
thanks in advance

How can you be scammed when you've cancelled the insurance. Are you in anyway out of pocket because of this?
And yes, the salesman does make commission out of the "extras" such as GAP insurance, etc.0 -
I would have been if i hadn't discovered the deception. I should be given the full cost in order to make an informed choice whether i think the insurance is worth it, £50 - yes, £399 - not for me thanks. Plus how many more people will he try the same scam on??0

It takes 2, you were the other party so you should have asked how much it was going to cost by asking for a breakdown0

By messing around with the invoice to make the insurance look cheaper but the car higher it can cause major problems should you need to make a claim on the Gap Insurance if it is "Return to Invoice" cover0
