Celebrity Autographs for Charity Fundraising
I'm really not sure if I am posting in the right place, but am hoping someone can help me? I'm doing the Playtex Moonwalk in May and am looking at different ways of fundraising. A friend of mine suggested writing to Celebs and asking them for a signed picture to auction/raffle off but, I've never done anything like this before.
Has anyone done this successfully? Any advice would be much appreciated, as obviously I want to raise as much money as I can.
Thanks for your time!

I contacted Corontaion Street a few years back , when I did some fundraising , and they sent me a full cast photo, personally signed by 90% of the cast at that time. I was amazed at the money that brought in! £212 was the highest bid , and I was really pleased! Look at sights like itv.com , bbc etc and just email advising what you are thinking of doing , and can they offer anything.
Ps http://www.fanmail.biz may come in handyJames thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere
If i help you...Please thank me! :beer:0 -

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.:hello:0 -
Hi, and welcome to the great world of Charity Autographs.
I done this intensively last year for an educational trip and raised a fair bit of cash from it. Be warned though it can take about 3 months to get a response, so you need to start now.
I used the site www.fanmail.biz to get the addresses of all the celebs, and my username is CrazyClum on there aswell, so if you need any help PM me on either board.
I would reccomend e-mailing your local/national newsreaders from the BBC who will glady offer studio tours and the like, and recommend sending letters to popular household figures, such as Paul O Grady.
Make the letters personal, and include some form of return postage, a stamp, envelope etc, and you are sure to get a response.
My succeses were a signed Fredie Flintoff bat, loads of Paul O Grady stuff, a signed Blues shirt, a signed Rangers shirt, hundreds of signed books/dvd's and more signed pictures than I can remember. E-mail Barcelona FC and they might send you a signed pendant of their players as they did me!
Good Luck, and if you have any questions, just PM me!0 -
also Corrie sent me signed clothing worn by the cast!0

Thank you so much for posting a reply back Crazy Clum. :T I was wondering just now if it would actually work as a good fundraiser, but now I'm feeling really inspired! Was going to e-mail Paul O Grady through his Radio 2 site as he did the walk last year, so am pleased to see he responded to you!
Although my walk is in May I can carry on fundraising until October, so time is not too much of an issue. I have also registered my interest for doing the Marathon for Walk the Walk also so anything that comes through too late can be used for next years efforts. I will probably be PM-ing you at some point to ask questions that may spring to mind, and hopefully with some success stories.0 -
Just to ake you aware. I used to work for somewhere that dealt with Celebrities and the staff used to sign the pictures, if a celeb came in they would get them to sign a handful, if they ran out and get requests for more and the person was not due in then the staff just did the signatures.
I appreciate that not everyone does this but some do.0
