gas vs electric kettle

My 700W rated microwave pulls 1000W on full power0

Circa 64% here. So perhaps some can be as low as 50%.0

So their inefficiency is something to consider when calculating costs0

I'd opt for the gas kettle, but there isn't much in it either way
Efficiencies: Waste heat can help to heat the surrrounding room. Cheaper cost of gas. Could argue 'greener' as Gas is less 'lossy' to transport to the end user.
Against: can take longer to boil than electric, depending on burner size/design and kettle design efficiencies can be gained/lost. Waste heat is not 'useful' during hot weather.
Electricity: More expensive per Kw. Depending on how its produced not as 'green' or efficient in the bigger schemen of things. -> Fuel turned into electricity at power station % efficiency lost -> Electric transmisssion lines % efficiency lost again -> electric heating element -> %efficiency lost again.0 -
Electric kettle is more efficient. Use to use a gas cooker to boil the kettle...And the times I left it boiling because I carried on doing something else and forgot. You can't do that with a electric kettle.0

You have to be careful doing that, microwaving water can effectively superheat it, causing it to rapidly boil when you add anything to it which has the potential to cause scalding burns0 -
