Buying a car off ebay

How long do i get to pay for and collect the car? Theres no info on the advert, is there an ebay rule? Auction ends tomorrow afternoon and because of the shocking weather we have had i will most likely say i would like to wait until next Saturday to pick it up, also giving me time to sort out insurance and scrapping my van, cashing in road tax etc aswel. Car is advertised elsewhere so may be withdrawn.....meaning what happens if the aution ends and im highest bidder(reserves been met but its less than the buy it now price) If it ends and im highest bidder does that mean the cars mine or can he still sell it on? Think iv found a gem but curious as to the boy withdrawing/selling to someone else.
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

The short answer my lovely is that you have seven days to pay, but if the seller is prepared to take the risk of negative feedback and Non Performing Seller strike he can sell it to someone else any time right up to the point that you take possession.
Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein
  • After 4 days a seller can open a NPB dispute and the buyer cannot leave any feedback unless they pay through paypal or the seller marks the item as paid for.
Four days later a seller can close the dispute giving the buyer a strike as well the buyer is not able to leave feedback ever.
Any auction that says this "is advertised elsewhere so may be withdrawn" I stay well away from as this should read "if I do not get good money and a good profit on this I will withdraw and say I sold it elsewhere".
You really cannot make a seller sell you something if they don't want to sell it, and if you are not going to pay through paypal then it is quite easy for a seller not to get a negative comment by just opening a dispute saying you have not paid.
Since they changed the NPB dispute process I do not think I would buy a car from ebay as sellers can decide not to accept paypal and therefore dodge any negative feedback going on their account.

I think it's on most cars, a lot of the ones I have been interested in have sold on the viewing, not at the end of the auction. If I bid I always ask what it's advertised elsewhere at as well, to test the water.

Have you contacted the seller? If you are genuine and they are happy with you and you have paid a deposit just agree terms with seller before you bid.
