Barclays Bank Account

Hi all,

Well I used to bank with Barclays Bank. I have a current account with them, a cash card accout whixh i used as bills account & also an account for which i use for ebay sales.

Well in December I switched to Halifax reward account, as was not happy with Barclays etc.

Well today I have received a letter from them saying -

TERMINATION NOTICE - Barclays Cash Card Account.

It s a term of your agreement with the bank that the full outstanding amount on your account is repayable on demand at any time. Pursuant to the term. the bank hereby terminates your agreement with effect from 12/03/2010 and makes demand for full & immediate payment of the balance on the account (£46.92dr) with effect from that date. In the meantime no further drawings on the account are permitted.

Well I used the bank account as a bills account & transferred money across every month until i switched to halifax.

I didnt realise i was overdrawn though, as i have received no other letter apart from this one this morning.

I will pay the amount first thing monday, its not a problem, however this letter has concerned me..

I have 2 other accounts with them which are ok so dont understand termination of this one.

Any advice

Thanks

They obviously assume that you would be keeping track of your account. How did you become overdrawn?
  • It appears that when i swapped bank account i forgot to cancel a direct debit with barclays & they charged me a fee..

The logical thing would be to just ask them why only one account has been closed as it does seem odd. If it was that serious then all the accounts would be closed. Have you ever gone overdrawn before with that account? Have you spoken to them yet?
