Boots Kitchen Appliances

Sales phone call recieved today informing me that Hoover had contacted Boots to remined me my 1yr guarantee was almost up on my Aqualtis washing machine. As a priviledge customer they could offer an extended cover plan called Worryfree for £6.49. Had to chuckle when the lady on the phone started giving me the doomsday speech about how 1 day after the warranty runs out the washing machine would explode into a million pieces and if I took cover with them I would be saved and they would replace it. But it did get me thinking that we purchased the cooker and fridge at around the same time (fitted a new kitchen). So I have 3 items worth around £1000 all due to expire on their 1yr warranty. Do I get cover or is it not worth it these days and just replace items as and when they break. Reason I bought Hoover was because I thought it was a decent name and would last awhile.
