Providing the tax disc was purchased ON LINE before the expiry date you can drive for 5 working days without displaying the current disc.0

Just spoke to police about it.
They do do 5 days grace BUT my insurance would be invalid if i had an accident?
Looks like im having a few days off work0 -
If done online or by phone: If you prefer to tax in the last few days of the month, there is now an exemption from the offence of not displaying a tax disc. This exemption covers the first five working days of the month and allows time for the new disc to arrive in the post.
The exemption only applies if applications are made before the current tax disc or SORN expires.

It is not a few days grace it IS AN EXEMPTION, print the link in my first reply and show them that!0 -
Lack of VED (on display) is not going to invalidate insurance. Especially in this instance where there is no law that requires one to be on display.
It wouldn't even invalidate the insurance if you hadn't even applied for a tax disc and were just driving blatently without VED.
If your tax disc still does not arrive, I would phone DVLA for advice on getting a refund for the lost disc and you going to get a new one from the post office.0 -

Hi is it a lease car by any chance? I used to work for a leasing co and we were always late sending them out. You can still drive it, there is a £60 fine for not displaying (no points) but your leasing company should pay for this as it their fault. If it is leased/rented just give them a ring.I used to be me !! what happened0

Is the OP looking for a few days off work?
No tax invalidates insurance....hmmm...No.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
It is a company/ leased car.
Just to let you no hintza I have a 100% attendance record at work for the last year. We get a bonus for 0 sick days off in a year0 -
In which case it is only 100% legal if they applied for your tax online and it has not yet arrived at the address of the registered keeper.
So it is probably illegal and you might want to ask your leasing company if they will pick up the fine if you get caught.0
