No. I'm looking. The trouble is that I need to buy a place where there is work. Sea views can be bought in the places where there's no work for 20-25 miles, sea views where there is work within 10-15 miles are less abundant and more expensive (often with no parking, or even a road). Which then leads me to thinking "OK, so maybe I need to be in a different county then". So it's a tough one. I can't/won't get a mortgage, so limited on budget, but need to think through: jobs, access to towns, access to transport to weigh it all up. I can't buy a flat with a sea view, it has to be a house.... and I don't want a "distant sea view", meaning to get to it you have to get the car out, drive for 20 minutes, park, then walk. Any which are small have been snapped up and rented out as holiday lets by posh people. 1-bed and 2-bed places are bought by BTLers and holiday home renters because they're cheapest/bottom of the market, which gives a problem if you want one to live in as you're "competing" with richer people (who won't even be living in them, but just bought them to make cash).
So far, the one I like best, I'm nearly half a million quid short .....0 -
PN have you had a look in the Deal/Walmer/Kingsdown area at all? Most of the properties there should be within a five or ten minute walk from the seafront and Dover/Folkestone/Ramsgate are only about a ten minute train-ride away. It's lovely down there *sigh*
You could get a sweet little house for about £120k if you're lucky. I once spotted an adorable ground-floor flat in a converted Victorian house for £28k and am still kicking myself for not buying it0 -
It's also 400 miles away from my aged parents, which is something that I need to keep in strong consideration. I'm at Lands End, or thereabouts. There are many places I can move to that are just 1-2 counties away and have what I want .... but moving wholly across the country is out of the question. Firstly I am trying to find the solution down this way, then I'll be looking further afield ... with a max of 200 miles.BitterAndTwisted wrote: »PN have you had a look in the Deal/Walmer/Kingsdown area at all? Today I've been googling caravans .... sea views are too pricey though. Looking for a cheap/quick solution to 10 problems I am trying to roll up into one.0 -
Land's End? I thought you'd moved up to that London?0
