Confused with NCD Protection

Options
Hi, received my renewal quote from Halifax, £652.79, buildings and contents, with 40% NCD protection. In May 2005 we made a claim for a burst water pipe. We're looking around for another provider as I feel this is too expensive, but they all ask if we've made a claim within the last five years, to which I've answered truthfully, but they don't ask about my NCD, that's been protected the whole time - can I transfer this NCD or will I be penalised because of the 2005 claim?

Many thanks, in advance, for any advice.

Most Home Insurers do not offer Protection for your no claims discount.

When you enter your claim the website will calculate the no claims discount you are entitled to and include it in the quotation.

Home Insurers typically give between 20% and 30% no claims discount for being three or four years claim free. The chances are most companies will be giving you their maximum no claims discount if your last claim was in 2005.
