On going issues with British Gas driving me mad!!!

Is anyone else having similar problems with British Gas?
I have been living in my current house for 2 & half year now and haven't had a straight forward Gas bill from them the whole time!
For the first year they were billing me for the wrong gas meter, which belonged to my landlord/neighbours house. Then once i discovered this was happening and pointed this out to them, they told me that they would sort the issue. It turned out that my meter was on the national grid against an address which is 5 miles away from my house. They came back and told me that this issue had been sorted and my billing would be now be fine. That was last March and i haven't had a bill from them since. I have phoned them several times on the matter and keep getting told that they are investigating the matter and someone will contact me but nothing is getting done. It turns out that someone at British gas has gotten confused by the whole situation and closed my account. All I want to do is pay my gas bill and i keep having to chase them. No one at British gas seems to want to get this matter sorted. I am about at the end of my tether with them. I'm moving house in the next couple of month so i really want to get this matter cleared up.
Any suggestions as to what i should do now? I am fed up wasting my time chasing them to give them money that they clearly don't seem to want.:mad:

They ask one day you can be sure of that. I hope you keep money aside of at least £70+ a month0

Having no joy in phoning you could try writing enclosing you meter reading.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

I know they will! thats why i want it sorted and not hanging over us when we move! Yes have been putting money aside. Still dreading the bill.0

You need to write and keep copies. Once they wake up they will chase you - copies of your letter will show that you have not been trying to run away from this.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
