  • I've used Greyhound buses more times than I can count as I don't drive. Been doing it since I was 18 (as a lone female) and am noe 23 and yeah, while it can be an eye-opener (especially first trip from Orlando to Georgia. lol) it's fine. It's cheap (but not as cheap as it used to be) and I've met some lovely people - you also come across some scumbags, but you get that anywhere.

As long as you're sensible, I can't forsee a serious problem. Never walk to the Greyhound stations as they're almost always in questionable areas, and try and arrive/leave during daylight hours if you can. Don't hang about outside the station, either - inside is safe, outside isn't.

I think you just have to be a little open-minded when it comes to Greyhound - it's not luxury travel and you do get a lot of weirdo's, but there are some genuinely nice people as well. Being poor doesn't always equate to being a psychopath ;).

Couldn't you give her a lift Mr Lahey?
You will both be there in January.

Of course it doesn't...but relatively speaking the percentage of passengers who could improve their personal hygiene is higher than other modes of transport...and the percentage of passengers bringing all manner of smelly food to eat on board is higher than other modes of transport. Perhaps I'm just sensitive, but more than one Greyhound journey for me was spent concentrating very hard on not being sick from the various odours combining in a relatively small space which, when combined with those passengers who crossed the line into 'scary' means, at least for me, it's not an option I would choose if I had the means to travel another way.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I don't know how you can comment on my ego as you know nothing about me - please stick to answering my question regarding my travel issue rather than making the thread personal please.
