Wireless Internet suddenly stopped working

Hi
A friend's wireless internet access thru Talk Talk has suddenly stopped working.
She can still access the internet via the ethernet cable.
She is running XP on a Toshiba Satellite laptop which is about 5 years old. The laptop seems to be working fine otherwise.
I said I would go over to have a look on Sunday but to be honest I really don't know much about wireless as I don't have it at home and only have a basic knowledge of computers/tech stuff.
Does anybody have any ideas about what could be wrong and what I should try checking/fixing ?
Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

It could be something very simple. Is there a red X through the wireless icon in the taskbar? Try right clicking on that and selecting the 'Repair' option, or it might even be disabled so if it is, simply select 'Enable.' There may be also be a wireless switch somewhere on the laptop that she could have accidentally turned off. My Thinkpad has a slider on the front and it's very easy to switch it off without realising.0

Thanks for reply.
She's out tonight and I can't get hold of her by phone but she mentioned previously about the red X.
Will definitely try your suggestions.
Any other ideas would be much appreciated.0 -

I'm certainly no techie but this happened to us a few weeks ago and I was advised to change the channel that the router was operating on as there was interference from another wireless network round here.
This worked. It entailed going into the router from the host computer and Typing in the 192.168.1.1 number into the address bar but that's as much as I remember now0 -
Simplest thing to try first - reboot the router and try again after.
Power it off for about 60 seconds, fire it back up and your wireless will work.0 -
My money is on the wireless switch on the laptop being inadvertantly switched off.0

Thats the next thing I was going to suggest.0
