bt contract help

I have phone and broadband from bt and am soon moving house, my wife got a call from bt saying the new owners wanted to take over the line so she said ok, i have since tried to move my service to my new home but each time i get told my service has been cancelled and i need to speak to someone else to set it up again before i can transfer it. I have now tried to move the service three times and to reinstate my line twice but everytime they say wait 24 hours and call back to tranfer. Im fed up now and have told them to forget it but they say i will be due them £166 but i dont belive this is correct as im the account holder and my wife has nothing to do with the line so in theory are they not in breach of contract for cancelling without my permission?

If they were acting on your wife;s instructions and she gaver the impression she was acting on your behalf (roviding the required securty answers), you'll make no headway saying you didn't authorise it. Sorry.
