    Oh I didnt realise you were in Bristol too. There is also Emmaus in St Phillips, they have a small shop in East Street Bedminster too. Bristol Freecycle is great, I just donated a sofa and bookcase on it.

    fortunately we are getting a discounted matress through work connections- I have only just found out how expensive they are! such an eyeopener.

    Doesn't always have to be, shopping around is the key, think we got one online for our guest bedroom for £250 and we all seem to like it. ....Our main bed's mattress cost £800 and something but that was 8 years ago and it is still going strong. We also found out that one of the tricks of the trade is that is you see one in a department store then it is often under a different name so that the store can claim it is exclusive when it isn't ;)
