How does my Wishing Tree look? opinions please

008-1.jpg

I've been worried about this for a long time (think I've even posted about it before!) I love the idea of having a wishing tree as opposed to a book for people to write in. But putting a bunch of twiggs together elegantly is harder then I thought, so after many hours pondering whta to do, this is what I've come up with and I'd love to know your thoughts. If you were at a wedding and saw this what would you think? thank you in advance x

  • I really like it what you could do as an idea in a pound shop they do lights with a little battery pack with them you could wrap these around the twigs to make them look brighter.

But it does look really good :)

What I have seen recently in a wedding magazine is a easel type board with a picture of the bride & groom in the middle and people can write around the picture their wishes for the couple. They also do plates like it too but not many people could write on one I don't think.

  • :TI really like that - it looks classy! I am afraid I might have to pinch your idea! Well done, its lovely! :j
  • it looks really nice.

    how many are attending
will there be space for everyone to be able to attach the card ? :)
  • Steph - thanks, I have got 2 sets of the battery opperated lights in the vase, but I think one set is a little tacky and doesn't light up much, I'm hoping to get another set, I paid much more htan £1 for them though so thanks for that, a trip to pounland is needed : )

tartontotty - It's in the post to you after our wedding ; )

I hope so littleoldme, there's about 120 people coming in total so I'm thinking maximum 100 cards on the tree, the twiggs are about 1 metre each. I think it looks quite small in the picture, but its quite deceiving. x

That looks really lovely! Bagsy next on the list to have it. The vase shape is really unusual and I think that really helps 'make it'.

have you thught about putting some plaster of paris in the bottom to secure the brances?

You could add a little dye to the plaster to make it match your colour scheme.

I think that looks really nice Cleomolly, is it the folding cards your using on the tree? Have you thought of using tags which wont take up as much room as a folded one?

Like the card infront of the vase

    Well done
  • I would have loved to make some tags instead, but after wasting at least £10 buying things like brown flower shapes which turned out too small to write on, among other things, they were a bit of a hasty buy when I saw them, and at £1.99for 100 I couldn't resist lol. Ive also gone waaayyyy over budget on paper and card and couldn't bear the thought of making anything else : )

plus its not a great idea to use ribbon for the ties, like silly me has, I've made them as small as possible and still used 20m, I think n total on ribbon alone I've managed to get through £60 on the whole wedding.......ouch!

Thank you for your thoughts x
